National Continence Management Strategy – Continue funding

The Government will continue funding for the Continence Management Strategy to assist the more than 3.8 million Australians who suffer from the condition.

  • An estimated 3.8 million Australians are affected by incontinence.
  • Continued funding for initiatives to improve continence awareness, management and treatment will assist these people to live and participate in their community with confidence and dignity.

Who will benefit?

  • The strategy will benefit people affected by incontinence, their family, carers and health professionals.

What funding is the Government committing to the initiative?

  • The Government will provide continued funding of $18.2 million over four years to continue the National Continence Management Strategy.

What have we done in the past?

  • Since 1999 the Government has provided $31 million for information resources and support including the National Continence Helpline and health professional education initiatives.

When will the initiative conclude?

  • This initiative will be reviewed in the 2010-11 Budget.
