The box plot demonstrates the age of patients infected with Panton Valentine leukocidin (PVL) positive and PVL negative community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) reported in Australia in the 2012 AGAR programme. The mean age of patients with PVL positive CA-MRSA was 31.7% years (95% CI 28 to 34.5 years) and the mean age of patients with PVL negative CA-MRSA was 55.7 years (95% CI: 50.7 to 60.6 years).
