This figure shows the number of notifications of congenital syphilis and the unadjusted notification rate per 100,000 for infectious syphilis between 2011 and 2014 by Indigenous status. Across all years the notification rate of infectious syphilis was higher in the Indigenous population as compared with the non-Indigenous population. The highest reported notification rates were reported in 2014 for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, 39.7 and 7.9 respectively. There were 5 notifications of congenital syphilis reported in Indigenous infants in 2014 and 0 reported in non-Indigenous infants.
