Figure 6 shows a comparison of coverage of varicella vaccine assessed in 2013 at 24 months of age versus 36 and 60 months of age by state or territory. As the 18-month schedule point was historically associated with lower coverage, as there is only a 6-month time period to catch up for varicella vaccination, and as there is the possibility that parents may delay the varicella vaccination, varicella coverage estimates assessed at 24 months were compared to estimates assessed at 36 and 60 months by jurisdiction. The differences in the expected increases in coverage assessed at 24 months versus 60 months varied by jurisdiction from a 7.6 percentage point increase in the Northern Territory to a 2.7 percentage point increase in the Australian Capital Territory. Four jurisdictions reach 90% varicella coverage or greater when the vaccine is assessed at 60 months.
