This figure shows the rate of notified cases of invasive pneumococcal disease in Australia from 2002 to 2010, by age group. In 2010, there was a small increase in the rate of invasive pneumococcal disease in children aged under two years when compared to 2009; however, overall the rate maintains the large decrease experienced in this age group as a result of the introduction of the universal 7vPCV immunisation program in 2005. The overall rate of invasive pneumococcal disease in adults aged 65 years or over has continued to slowly decline in both 2009 and 2010
