This figure shows the rate of notified cases of invasive pneumococcal disease caused by 7vPVC and non-7vPVC serotypes in children ages less than five years in Australia from 2002 to 2010, by Indigenous status and serotype. Please refer above for detailed description. The rate of invasive pneumococcal disease due to serotypes included in the 7vPCV has remained low in both Indigenous and non Indigenous children aged less than 5 years; however, the rate of invasive pneumococcal disease due to serotype not included in the 7vPCV have shown overall increase in both Indigenous and non Indigenous children aged less than 5 years. In particular, the number of cases due to serotype 19A has showed an overall increase since 2002 in in both Indigenous and non Indigenous children aged less than 5 years with this increase being more prominent in non¬¬-Indigenous children. Serotype 19A is not included in the 7vPCV.
