Figure 1 is a column graph showing the number of participants recruited each day from 22 March 2012 to 14 June 2012 (the peak recruitment period for 2012. There were a total of 3933 participants recruited during this period. Notable recruitment activities included: a Hunter New England Health newsletter promoted Flutracking on 27 March 2012, and 68 participants were recruited nationally from 27-29 March 2012; the Victorian Department of Health sent an email to all staff on 2 April 2012 with a clickable link to the Flutracking survey and 273 participants were recruited nationally from 2-5 April 2012; the Flutracking launch email was sent to all active participants on 2 May 2012 which included a suggestion that participants invite three people to join the survey using an email link to “Tell-a-Friend”, and 1379 participants were recruited nationally from 2-4 May 2012; the first Flutracking survey was emailed to all active participants on 7 May 2012 which also included the “Tell a Friend” email recruitment link, and 312 participants were recruited nationally from 7-9 May 2012; various other media promotions occurred in May 2012 including a television interview with Channel 10 on 24 May 2012, a Sydney Morning Herald newspaper article and ABC Radio Sydney Breakfast interview on 29 May 2012, and a television interview on Today Tonight, Channel 7 on 31 May 2012, with a further 496 participants recruited nationally from 24 May – 1 June 2012.
