Figure 2 Figure 2 shows ASPREN swab testing results from 1 January to 30 September 2015 by week of report. Viruses monitored are as follows: influenza A, influenza B, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus type 1, 2 and 3, adenovirus, rhinovirus, metapneumovirus, Mycoplasma pneumonaie, and pertussis. Data are presented as a dual column and line graph with the primary vertical axis (stacked column graph) demonstrating the detection of respiratory viruses by week of report. Influenza positivity peaks occurred during the interseasonal period during weeks 2 and 5 (weeks ending 11/1/2015 and 1/2/2015, respectively). This represents a small sample of tests undertaken during this period. From week 29 (week ending 19/7/15) to the end of the reporting period, influenza positivity remained above 30%, peaking in week 33 (week ending 16/8/2015) at 50%. Influenza B was the most commonly detected respiratory virus (19.84% of all tests performed) peaking in week 33 with 53 cases detected. Influenza A was the second most commonly detected virus with 11% of all specimens tested being positive for influenza A. Influenza A cases peaked in week 32 with 30 cases detected. Rhinovirus is the third most common respiratory virus representing 10.7% of all specimens tested. It peaked in week 27 with 22 cases detected.
