Figure 1 shows two epidemic curves drawn as histograms, illustrating illness onset of confirmed Q fever notifications in Walgett Shire Local Government Area over time. The top figure shows the number of notifications by year and month of illness onset. Following 11 sporadic notifications over the period of January 2010 to November 2014, a sudden increase in the count of notifications is observed in December 2014, peaking at 5 cases in January 2015. The bottom figure focuses closer on the outbreak period, showing confirmed outbreak cases by epidemiological week of illness onset. Cases are additionally delineated into those with definitive and suggestive laboratory evidence. The figure shows that outbreak cases occurred over a prolonged period of 14 weeks, ranging from 0-2 cases per week with no definitive peak.
