The figure shows that the rates of IPD in non-Indigenous children fell sharply following the introduction of the universal vaccine program in 2005. Similarly, the IPD rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged less than five years fell sharply following the targeted vaccination program in 2001 but have fluctuated widely in recent years.
