Diagnostic imaging procedures help to diagnose, treat and monitor an extensive range of illnesses and conditions. Diagnostic imaging services include ultrasound, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, radiography (x-ray), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). These services are provided with specialised equipment and the professional input of a radiologist (or other medical specialist) to interpret the generated images.

Expansion of Medicare-eligible magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – Invitation to Apply (ITA)

An ITA process commencing 24 September 2018 to allocate Medicare eligibility to up to 20 additional MRI units, comprising a mix of fully eligible units and upgrades of existing partial units, in metropolitan and regional areas. Applications close 5pm Canberra time, Friday 2 November 2018.
