The delegate of the Minister for Health has made the Private Health Insurance (Prostheses) Amendment Rules 2016 (No.1)

The Amendment Rules were made on Thursday 12 May 2016 and registered on the Federal Register of Legislation on Wednesday 18 May 2016.

The Prostheses Secretariat was advised of a number of omissions, errors and anomalies in the February 2016 Prostheses List, necessitating an Amendment to the Rules. The Amendment Rules are available on the Federal Register of Legislation website.

The Private Health Insurance (Prostheses) Amendment Rules 2016 (No. 1) will commence on 2 June 2016.

Most of the errors stemmed stemmed from technical issues relating to the interface of the new portal and the database that holds the Prostheses List data.

The attached spreadsheet provides details of the changes to the Private Health insurance (Prostheses) Rules 2016 (No. 2).

Private health insurers are encouraged to consider applying benefits to the affected billing codes from the commencement of the Private Health Insurance (Prostheses) Rules 2016 (No. 2) on 25 March 2016.

If you have any queries or concerns about this matter, please email the Prostheses mailbox.
