Private health insurers are reminded that annual lists of un-audited Second Tier Default Benefit rates, from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018 are due to the Department of Health by 31 August 2017.

The audited rates, along with a statement from the auditor stating that the rates have been calculated in accordance with Schedule 5 of the Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2011 (the Rules), are due to the Department by 30 September 2017.

This requirement is contained in Part 6 of the Administrative Arrangements for the Second Tier Default Benefits for overnight and day only treatment and is designed to facilitate the operation of Schedule 5 of the Rules made under item 3A of the table in section 333-20 of the Private Health Insurance Act 2007.

In order to reduce the amount of paper used to meet this requirement, it is preferred that both the un-audited and audited rates, along with the statement from the auditor, be emailed to PHI@health.gov.au.

If an electronic version is not available, a hardcopy of the Second Tier listing should be printed, double-sided and posted to:
