The Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Amendment Rules 2018 (No.3) (Amendment Rules) update the reference to the latest Second Tier Advisory Committee (STAC) approved list of second tier eligible facilities published in this circular.

Five additional facilities have been added to the previously approved STAC list, this list can be viewed at Second Tier Advisory Committee - Additions. 16 facilities have been removed from the STAC list due to facility closures, inaccurate applications and facilities not reapplying for second tier status. This list can be viewed at Second Tier Advisory Committee - Deletions.

The Amendment Rules have been registered with the Federal Register of Legislation and commence on 1 July 2018.

As advised in PHI 07/13, the Rules no longer contain a list of facilities eligible for second tier default benefits. Rather, the Rules reference a list of eligible facilities maintained by the STAC.

The complete STAC-approved list of second tier eligible facilities as of 1 July 2018 is at Second Tier Advisory Committee - Approved list of second-tier facilities.
