Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2010 – Second Tier Default Benefits



The Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2010 (the Rules) have been registered with the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI) and took effect on 29 January 2010 (FRLI No: F2010L00193). The changes to the Rules relate to Schedule 5 – Second Tier Default Benefits and are outlined below.

New Hospitals Added to Schedule 5
The following hospitals have been added to Schedule 5 of the Rules. These hospitals will be eligible for second tier benefits from 29 January 2010 until 30 June 2011.

Next Second Tier Advisory Committee Meeting


As advised in Circular PHI 02/10 the next Second Tier Advisory Committee meeting will be held on Friday 26 February 2010. The closing date for applications is Friday 5 February 2010.

Please note that applicants are required to submit nine stapled copies of their application to:

Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2010



The Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2010 was registered on the FRLI on 29 January 2010 (FRLI No: F2010L00192) and will take effect on 30 January 2010. The Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2010 amend Part 2, Rule 8A Benefit Requirement – Nursing Home Type Patient (NHTP), to increase the NHTP contribution at public hospitals for privately insured patients in public hospitals in Western Australia from $41.35 to $45.50.
