Guidelines for Recognition of Private Hospital-Based Rehabilitation Services

This circular supersedes PHI Circular 85/09, dated 23 December 2009. The Guidelines for Recognition of Private Hospital-Based Rehabilitation Services (the Guidelines) have been revised by the Consultative Committee on Private Rehabilitation (CCPR) and are attached. The CCPR comprises the following organisations:
  • Australian Private Hospitals Association
  • Private Healthcare Australia
  • Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Private Health Insurance Ombudsman
  • Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs
The Guidelines are intended to provide guidance to hospitals and health funds in determining private health insurance benefits for private hospital-based rehabilitation care. The Guidelines may also be of assistance to State/Territory health authorities and their public hospitals in the treatment of Medicare and privately insured patients.
