Payment of the 2015 Private Health Insurance Complaints Levy
The purpose of this Circular is to inform private health insurers about the arrangements for invoicing and payment of this year’s Private Health Insurance Complaints Levy (Complaints Levy).
2015 Complaints Levy Calculation
The Complaints Levy of $2.087million has been budgeted to support the work of the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman in the 2015-2016 financial year.
The amount to be collected from each insurer, as a proportion of the budget, is calculated according to the formula set out in the Private Health Insurance (Complaints Levy) Rules 2007
(the Rules). The formula uses data on the number of single and joint policies issued by each insurer as of the census day (30 June 2015). The data was collected by the Private Health Insurance Administration Council.
The amount each insurer will be invoiced may vary from the previous year as a reflection of any change in the number of policies held.

2015 Complaints Levy Invoices
Complaints Levy invoices were sent by the Department on 1 December 2015 and under the Private Health Insurance (Levy Administration) Rules
2010, are payable by 31 December 2015.
