This page contains datasets for the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System.

The National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System (NNDSS) is currently being decommissioned and replaced by a new system. A new landing page is being developed and in the interim, this page has been deployed to allow access to the public datasets below and alternative reports.

Summary data for nationally notifiable communicable disease

Summary data for all nationally notifiable communicable diseases is currently not available while the National Notifiable Disease Surveillance System (NNDSS) is being decommissioned and replaced by a new system.

Access to public datasets is maintained below and a fortnightly summary on notifications of Australia’s nationally notifiable diseases is available here and is available at NNDSS Fortnightly summary notes - 2021

Public datasets

Record data are available for selected diseases from 2009 onwards and refreshed in July of each year to include the previous year's notifications and all updates. These datasets include information not available in the above summary tables.

* All Public dataset information is generated annually from 'Snapshot' data captured in June of each year.

If further NNDSS data is required, it may be possible to provide it on special request. Please send an email to NNDSS.datarequests@health.gov.au and you will be sent the request forms and information about the process. Please note that the time it takes to process your request may vary depending on the type(s) of data you request and the necessary approval steps.
