The aim of the project was to develop a fully functioning software platform to use as a base for an online educational program for junior doctors. Stage One was a pilot study which developed the software platform, as well as a test case scenario. Stage Two resulted in the development of 22 case scenarios with appropriate instructional value. These were developed in collaboration with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.

The project was extended (Stage Three) to enable the software to be enhanced to include a database structure and user interface for specific additional target audiences. A collection of case studies were developed for GP-relevant areas of clinical practice and related investigations to allow the ongoing instructions for GPs. The website is “live” for ongoing GP instruction.

The project also involved collaboration with members of the Education and Training Committee of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, to develop case studies suitable for education of Respiratory Medicine advanced trainees of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
