Australian General Practice Training - Outcomes of Approach to Market
Following an approach to market, in-principle agreement has been reached with new providers for each of the 11 geographic training regions for the administration of the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) programme.
The approach to market is part of the work to streamline administration costs for the training programme, with these savings contributing to the costs of the 300 extra GP training places each year.
As in-principle agreement has been reached with all providers, work will commence in each region on transitioning to new providers over the next three months. This includes new providers implementing comprehensive transition and stakeholder engagement plans.
The new providers will assume responsibility for the management of the AGPT programme on 1 January 2016.
