Accreditation of organisations assists in the management of risks that may be associated with dealings with GMOs.

The Regulator will require an organisation undertaking certain dealings with GMOs to be accredited. The process of accreditation enables the Regulator to assess whether the organisation has the resources and the internal processes in place to enable it to effectively oversee work with GMOs. Before an organisation can be accredited it must have established, or have access to, an appropriately constituted IBC.

Accredited Organisation Annual Report to the Gene Technology Regulator

It is a condition of accreditation that accredited organisations complete and submit to the Gene Technology Regulator (the Regulator) an annual report in the form required by the Regulator. The annual report must be received by the Regulator before 30 September each year.

The annual report form covering the period 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019 is now available for completion via an online form.

    Organisation contact form

    The organisation is responsible for advising the OGTR on any changes to the contact details and/or assigned contact persons as a condition of Accreditation. Contact details for the Organisation, the CEO, and the Primary and Secondary Contact Officers (optional) are requested in the form below.

    The Primary contact is the person an organisation has nominated as the first point of contact for all communications from the OGTR. The Secondary contact is intended to be a back-up for the Primary contact. Both contacts are included in correspondence from the OGTR.

    Authorised persons form

    Primary and Secondary contacts are unable to make applications, including requesting changes to a licence or certification, unless they are also duly authorised to do so by their organisation. The OGTR requires that such authorisation is declared for the purpose of submitting any applications.

    An Authorised Persons form can be completed by the CEO, Primary Contact or Secondary contact to authorise themselves or others to act on behalf of the organisation for certain types of applications. This information can then be stored in the OGTR’s records. Alternatively, the person submitting any application must declare that they are duly authorised to do so (if they indeed are) in either a formal application form or in an email. Authorised persons are not included in any regular communications from the OGTR.

    IBC contact form

    The organisation that maintains the IBC is responsible for advising the OGTR on any changes to the contact details and/or assigned contact persons as a condition of Accreditation. The IBC contact form must specify the name of the IBC, Chairperson and main contact of the IBC. The main contact of the IBC will receive OGTR correspondence relating to the IBC.
