Sonologist: Registered medical practitioner with qualifications in the acquisition and clinical interpretation of ultrasound images. Such a practitioner would generally be considered to have qualifications of FRANZCR, FRANZCOG, DDU, COGU, CMFM or other qualification such as an ASUM certificate of competence.

Sonographer: Must be eligible to be admitted to the Register of Accredited Medical Sonographers or Accredited Student Sonographers held by the Australasian Sonographers’ Accreditation Register. Examinations are to be performed in consultation with an appropriately qualified sonologist.
