The findings of the evaluation provide insights into issues of access, quality and awareness in relation to the Breastfeeding Helpline. These broad issues are further investigated as follows.

  • Access — service implementation, cost effectiveness, utilisation, caller satisfaction and access by priority population groups.
  • Quality — counsellor standards, supply, and supporting and maintaining the workforce.
  • Awareness — support for health professionals and health professionals’ understanding of the Breastfeeding Helpline role.
  • Marketing — communication about ABA education and training activities and strategies to encourage participation.
