Application Detail
Description of Medical Service
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a surgical treatment that involves the implantation of permanent stimulating electrodes within the brain. These electrodes are connected to a small battery that sits under the skin of the chest wall. Each electrode delivers a small field of targeted electricity that changes the activity of brain cells in a specific region. The DBS device can be adjusted after implantation without the need for further surgery, to vary the size, shape and position of the stimulation field. DBS is intended for patients that do not respond to conventional treatment or therapy.Description of Medical Condition
