This report presents results from an assessment of the effectiveness of various responses to an emerged strain of pandemic influenza.

The results on the assessment are presented under the headings of

      1. effectiveness of border control measures (Section 3);
      2. limiting the transmission of imported infection (Section 4);
      3. the role of antiviral drugs (Section 5), and
      4. the role of health workers (Section 6).
We begin with an outline of the models used.
