Effective Communication of Pathology Results to Requesting Practitioners and Consumers

Four (4) GP practices attended the workshop dinner facilitated by Dianella Community Health on 29th February 2012. Representatives from stakeholder organisations involved with QUPP; including Dianella Community Health, the University of Melbourne, Diabetes Australia and the Division of General Practice were present at the workshop evening. The workshop was presented in a semi-structured format to allow constructive feedback from attendees.

Details outlined during the evening included:

  • QUPP Project – Background and objectives
  • Results from consumer focus group sessions held at DCH in December 2011 (presented by Melbourne University)
  • Recruitment process – pre-test of the pathology proforma
  • Incentives for participating GP practices – colour laser printer, $80 per patient using the pathology template in clinical consultation (10-20 patients) & CME points.
  • Support network for participating GP practices during the pre-test period – late March – late May 2012.
  • Guest speaker presentation– Prof Peter Colman (Director of Endocrinology RMH)
